Instructions: The first article Link https://hbr.org/2016/12/what-great-managers-do-daily . discusses what makes managers today successful in their day-to-day role. As noted in the article, there are certain Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that differentiate high performing managers from those that are not as effective.
The second article Link https://news.gallup.com/businessjournal/167975/why-great-managers-rare.aspx is referenced in the first, and discusses in greater detail some key situational and personal characteristics of managers that have been shown to influence effectiveness.
After reviewing these 2 articles, please then answer the following:
1. What specific OB concepts or principles do you think are directly related to manager KPI success? Please identify at least 3 concepts or principles and explain in detail (for each) how they influence KPI outcomes.
2. Using OB concepts and principles that you have reviewed, please describe in detail what steps you would recommend for increasing manager effectiveness (given the factors described in Article 2). Specifically, when recruiting, selecting, and training managers what OB concepts and principles do you think are important, and what specific actions do you think could be taken using these concepts and principles to increase the percentage of ‘talented’ managers.
